Notre-Dame Basilica of Montréal

While on my travels to Montréal, Québec, Canada, I had the pleasure of visiting a National Historic Site of Canada, Notre-Dame Basilica of Montréal. Thrilled, I was going to one of North American’s most visited monuments, I was stunned at how underwhelming their welcome pamphlet was and decided to make my own.

First, I switched the basic trifold to a gate fold. The cover opening mimics the movement of doors to the basilica and has the largest area for a picture. Upon experiencing the brochure one will find history on the left and to the right a timeline. This allows the audience to have access to history/ information at a quick glance. The middle section of the brochure is the most important, it highlights the major features of the main interior of the basilica. The color palette was inspired by the interior (reflection) from the sanctuary and altarpiece, as shown on the cover image. Clarendon Text Pro paired with Freight Sans provides a classic feel with great legibility. Combining my own photography with some of the original pamphlets copy created a brochure that is striking, clear, and ready to guide one through the jewel of Québec's religious heritage.
